AdvancedCombination programme

Safety Officer

A combination pathway: complete six existing SHE courses, not a single standalone eLearning course.

About this programme

Safety Officer is ABC’s Advanced SHE combination programme. It is not a separate learner guide and not one Moodle course you start on its own. You complete six existing courses — Legal Liability, Health and Safety Representative, Risk Assessment, Incident Investigator, Work permit (Lock Out Tag Out & Permit to Work), and Fire Marshall (Emergency Evacuation Marshall) — with online knowledge in Moodle plus practicals as each course requires. Enrol in those six component courses. Book the full programme with ABC if you want the six scheduled and assessed as a package. There is no invented SAQA number for Safety Officer as a standalone qualification.

The six component courses

Complete each course (online knowledge plus practicals as required). There is no separate Safety Officer eLearning course to start.

  1. 1. Legal Liability

Workplace legal duties for supervisors and managers.

  2. 2. Health and Safety Representative

Appointed representatives who inspect, report, and support safer days.

  3. 3. Risk Assessment

Identify hazards, rate risk, and document controls.

  4. 4. Incident Investigator

Practical investigation principles for supervisors and SHE teams.

  5. 5. Lock Out Tag Out & Permit to Work

Work permit: isolate energy, lock, tag, try, and control permits — online now.

  6. 6. Emergency Evacuation Marshall

Fire marshall / floor marshall: guide people out and account for teams — online now.

What you will learn

  • How the six component courses fit together as one Safety Officer pathway
  • Legal duties and liability for appointed persons (Legal Liability)
  • Inspections, reporting, and consultation as a Health and Safety Representative
  • Hazard identification, risk rating, and documented controls (Risk Assessment)
  • Incident / accident investigation: scene, evidence, and corrective actions
  • Work permit practice: lock out, tag out, try, and permit to work
  • Fire marshall / emergency evacuation marshall duties during an emergency

Prerequisites

  • Valid ID
  • SHE Awareness is a useful foundation before the six components
  • Appointment (or intended appointment) as a safety officer, supervisor, or SHE support person

Blended path

Enrol in the six component Moodle courses for knowledge. Practicals stay with ABC assessors as each component requires. Certificates follow assessment — not a quiz on an empty programme hub.

  1. 1

    Start online

Complete SHE knowledge modules, videos, and quizzes in Moodle before you arrive on site.

  2. 2

    Knowledge review

Pass the knowledge check so assessors know you are ready for practical work.

  3. 3

    Book practical

Join a public class in Bellville or request an on-site assessor for your team.

  4. 4

    Certify

Upload evidence where required. ABC issues the certificate after assessment and moderation.
